The Jensen Pack™ is the original frameless backpack. Perfected by the American climber Don Jensen in the mid-sixties and produced commercially by Rivendell Mountain Works from 1971 to 1981, this classic design's hallmarks are simplicity, functionality, durability and aesthetically pleasing good looks. Rivendell Mountain Works is pleased to once again be producing The Jensen Pack™. This is a true, vintage, hand made backpack. These packs are made in small numbers in our micro-cottage workshop, and Yes! they are made in the USA. The Jensen Pack™ is considered by some to be the pivotal design in the "soft pack" revolution.
The Jensen Pack™ is a delight to carry, moulding to the shape of your back. It is unbelievably comfortable, and we think it is possibly the quietest pack you will ever carry.
Our 2008 Limited Edition Jensen Pack™ is not a reproduction; we make these packs from the original patterns and to the same high standards.
