Little Elf – Toddler pack

Introductory Price $73

The Newest member of the RMW pack family

Some years ago, many pack manufacturers  offered small packs for the very young new hiker. As is our want, we like to offer gear that is not commonly available elsewhere. Help your little elf get started on the right trail by having their own pack to carry a couple of those special things. Even though the pack is a small one, holding a wee 330 cu in, there is no compromise on quality. This pack will only fit young ones for 2-3 years, but we make it to last for the next child or future generations. #8 YKK zippers are used for both the pocket and main compartment, 420D pack cloth on the inside and back and the usual Cordura brand, 1000D fabric on the pack front.

Mariposa Summit Pack

The Mariposa is our most popular pack and rightly so. Large enough for that summit push but not too large for everyday use. It will hold a robust 33 liters (2040 cu in) of goods and stands about 53cm (21″) tall. Front loading style for the undivided large compartment.

This modified “teardrop” design has a great carry profile, and it weighs in at only 567 grams (20 oz). The deluxe version has a full foam back for comfort and packing ease, laptop/hydration sleeve, key clip, a hidden inner pocket, 2 tool loops and 10 of our signature “barbell” leather patches as tie-on points for additional gear. Customizable like all our packs.

Deluxe version $185

Lupine Daypack

Lupine product

If you have never carried a “teardrop” design pack, this shape is one of the best for carrying a modest amount of gear, perfectly balanced on your back. The teardrop design originated in the 1970’s and this modified teardrop is more rounded at the top, which is more practical for packing without messing up the design ethos. We pride ourselves in overbuilding this pack, with double bottom, #10 zipper and double sewn seams, you could probably fill the pack with pig iron and never worry about blowing out a seam. Suffice it to say the construction will insure that it lasts a lifetime, unlike most of the daypacks on the market

Made with the same attention to detail as all our packs, this daypack suits people with more modest carry needs.

The Lupine pack stands about 46cm (18″) tall and holds about 21 liters (1300 cu in) of gear.

Like the Mariposa, the deluxe version has a full foam back for comfort and packing ease, key clip and a hidden inner pocket. Can be customized, like all our packs

The Jensen Pack™

This is the pack that put Rivendell Mountain Works on the map. Our Flagship Product, The Jensen Pack™ is the original frameless backpack. Perfected by the American climber Don Jensen in the mid-sixties, this classic design’s hallmarks are simplicity, functionality, durability and aesthetically pleasing good looks. The Jensen Pack™ is considered by some to be the pivotal design in the “soft pack” revolution.

Unique to the Jensen Pack™ design is the loading system for the main compartment, which is accessed by zipper on the back panel. The main compatment is divided vertically up to the point where the shoulder straps attach. The divider is the key to the way the pack fits, and gives it shape and stability.

There is a lower compartment that typically is used for a sleeping bag and acts as the weight transfer system to your waist, much like a fanny pack. The volume of this pack varies with the size, please look at the sizing chart to determine your correct size. For reference here, the medium holds 51 liters (3105 cu in).

NorthStar Mountaineering Pack

NorthStar Product

This is a specialty pack made for mountaineering and skiing but equally useful for extended backpacking trips. Front loading packs beat the pants off top-loaders for easy packing and access to gear. With a large, undivided main compartment and 3 exterior sewn pockets there are many options for organizing gear.

Unique to this pack is the floating hipbelt and load lifters on the shoulder straps. This is our only pack design that has these features, and gives additional stability to large loads that this pack is designed for The side pockets are sleeved to allow skis to be carried on the sides.

These slots are considerably wider than the original 70’s design to allow for most wide modern skis, but because of modern binding systems, only 3 pin style telemark skis will work in the sleeves. The “floating” hipbelt system provides a complete, padded wraparound hipbelt that provides a much more effective and comfortable transfer of weight to the hips, and it is completely removable!!

Detachable Pockets

Detachable Pockets $50/pair

Capacity 12.4 liters
(760 cu. in.) /pair
Dimensions:
16” x 4” x 6”

Our pockets are multi functional, tough and add convenience to accessing gear. The pockets come equipped with webbing on the backside so that they can be slipped on a belt or strap and used as a waistpack. They attach to the pack with a specialized directional snap which prevents the pocket from accidentally coming off the pack. We use #8 zippers on the pockets with 2 zipper pulls so you can access gear from either end. The zipper starts across the top and continues down the long side. As with all our packs, a flap adds weather resistance to the zipper and protects the zipper from abrasion. These flaps are one piece, continuous with the fabric on one side of the zipper, another distinction of the Rivendell Mountain Works Brand.

These pockets can also be custom ordered with Mariposa Packs but are too long for the Lupine Packs. Packs cannot be retrofitted with snaps they must be installed at the time of construction.
